Cliff White, President
Cliff White was raised in the Cottages and worked many weekends and summers with his grand-father performing general maintenance and repairs. He has now taken on the role of President with Cottage Senior Living, and strives to develop “next generation” ideas for assisted living. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the American University and is a Certified Public Accountant. Cliff is a member of the Urban Land Institute Senior Housing Council and the American Seniors Housing Association.
Sandy Brackin, Vice President of Operations
A native of Auburn, Sandy Brackin began her tenure with the White family business as Managing Director of Country Cottage in Russellville in 1999. Brackin filled two increasingly responsible positions in the company before assuming her current responsibilities for the 10 Cottage communities. She has been in the geriatric field of nursing as an RN for over 30 years. Sandy holds a Category II Administrators License for Assisted Living and Memory Care. She and her husband, Larry, have two grown children, Andrew and Anna, and three granddaughters, Marlie, Hydie, and Ruby.
Alan Hangartner, Vice President of Marketing and Sales
Alan joined the Cottage team in 2012, coming from Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. While at Merrill Lynch, he honed his marketing and sales skills for the Huntsville, AL branch resulting in a multi-million dollar book of business. Alan started his career as an intern for Dell computers developing and marketing a new laptop line specifically for college students. He holds a Masters in Marketing from the University of Alabama’s Manderson School of Business. Alan and wife, Carol Ann, have two daughters, Sophie and Olivia.
Todd White, Vice President of Maintenance
With over 18 years of experience in contracting, maintenance, and construction, Todd brings a wealth of knowledge to Cottage Senior Living. He specializes in helping relay between people and clinicians to understand the complexities of maintaining a Cottage and how the various aspects of maintenance are a key component of quality resident care in assisted living. Todd and his wife Jennifer, have four children, including their newest addition, Wyatt.
Greg Dykes, Regional Managing Director
Greg comes to The Cottages with over 12 years experience caring for seniors in a variety of environments including rehabilitation, independent care, assisted living, and more. He has a true passion for helping families make the right choice when caring for their loved ones. He attended Troy University and is a licensed Assisted Living Administrator. Before joining The Cottage family, Greg has helped provide care to Seniors in a variety of settings. At home, Greg enjoys spending time with his wife, Lee, and two children, Evan and Laura Beth.
Selena Jackson, Regional Managing Director
Selena is from Russellville, Alabama and first joined The Cottages in 1998 as the Resident Services Director for our Country Cottage in Russellville. Since that time she has been a member of The Cottage team in various positions, including Managing Director for several of our locations. Selena has been a nurse for 25 years and has enjoyed 22 years caring for the elderly. "The reason I love caring for the elderly is because of my many wonderful grandparents who played such an important role in my life," says Selena.
Melinda Crawford, Regional Marketing Director
Melinda Crawford has been with The Cottages since 2008 and serves as our Regional Marketing Director. She is from Florence, Alabama and graduated from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Leisure Services with specialized training in Leisure Services for the elderly. "The Cottage reminds me of my grandparents' house. There are always fresh, homemade cookies, a welcoming front porch to rock and share stories, and a supportive environment that makes everyone feel at home," says Melinda. She and her husband Charlie, have three children Lilly, Luke, and Lila. "If I had one wish, it would be that in some small way I will leave the world a better place."
Cheryl Westlake, Director of Operations
Cheryl joined Thompson White & Associates in 2000, as an Administrative Assistant. She quickly developed an interest in all aspects of the business, particularly marketing and operations. Cheryl was promoted to Corporate Director of Sales and Marketing. In 2007, she went on an extended hiatus before rejoining the company in 2011. Cheryl re-entered the assisted living industry as Operations Manager. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science and Liberal Studies from Athens State University, magna cum laude. She has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and is an active participant in Forgotten Felines with her husband, Tom.
