Selena Jackson, LPN,
Managing Director

Columbia Cottage warmly welcomes Selena Jackson, LPN, as Managing Director! Selena is from Russellville, Alabama and first joined the Cottages in Russellville as the Resident Services Director in 1998. Since that time she has been a member of the Cottage team in various positions, including Managing Director for Country Cottage - Russellville and Managing Director of Country Cottage – Decatur. In October 2005 Selena became a Regional Managing Director, a job which allowed her to help care for the Residents in several Cottages. Selena has been a nurse for 18 years, and has enjoyed 17 years caring for the elderly.

Selena is married to Michael Jackson, who is the head Football Coach for the Buckhorn Bucks. Selena’s son, Mason, is a sophomore in high school and plays varsity football and basketball for the Russellville Golden Tigers.

“The reason I love caring for the elderly is because of my many wonderful grandparents who played such an important part in my life,” says Selena.

Thersa Weber,
Resident Services Director

“I have been caring for others for a lifetime! I helped take care of my great-grandmother and two grandmothers during my life. After I was married, my mother-in-law became sick, and I took care of her until she passed away.

In 1989 I started to work at Hamilton Health Care Systems where I worked in Radiology, then later transferred to their retirement community. I have been a Resident Services Director for Assisted Living and Independent Living communities before joining the Cottage family.

I am also a Missionary and go on mission trips whenever possible. As a member of First Baptist Church of Killen, I teach the oldest ladies in our church. I also am a member of the Brooks Athletic Association at Brooks High School.
I love working with the elderly and I’m glad I can work so close to home. The Cottage is like caring for your family in a home-like setting. Now, I can do something that I love, right near my home and in a wonderful environment! I have adopted the phrase ‘love what you do and you never have to work another day in your life’ and that’s how I feel about working at Columbia Cottage!”

Melinda Crawford,
Information Director

Melinda Crawford serves as the Information Director for Columbia Cottage.

Melinda has her degree from the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in Leisure Services and specialized training in Leisure Services for the elderly.

“The Cottage reminds me of my grandparents’ house. There are always fresh, homemade cookies, a welcoming front porch to rock and share stories, and a supportive environment that makes everyone at home,” says Melinda.

Melinda and her husband, Charlie, have three adorable children, Lilly, Luke, and Lila, and two little dachshunds, Molly and Mabel. Her hobbies include sailing, volunteering at school, renovating houses, and photography.

“If I had one wish, it would be that in some small way I will leave the world a better place."
