At the Cottage, our residents enjoy three delicious home-style meals prepared daily and served in our family-style dining room. We also offer light menu items and snacks any time of day. Our meals are made from scratch by our staff, with three homemade desserts prepared daily. Each meal is designed to support a well-balanced diet and to focus on the nutritional needs of our residents.
The Country Kitchen is an added feature for our residents, offering a place to meet with friends, play games, or read the paper. You will always find fresh coffee and cookies in the County Kitchen.
For the past 15 years, Columbia Cottage has been blessed to have Wendy Perkins as our Food Service Director. Wendy takes great pride in preparing delicious meals and her delightful desserts for the Cottage residents. When she spreads the smell of warm, fresh baked chocolate chips cookies throughout the Cottage, the residents can't wait to get one fresh out of the oven. Wendy can be seen on most days spending time talking with the residents and getting ideas on new foods and desserts they would like to have. Often residents ask for her apple cake, peanut bars or chocolate chip cake.
Wendy has a very hands-on approach to the residents' care and needs. She enjoys getting to know the new residents and sitting down with them to learn about their likes and dislikes. That way, she knows just how to please them at meal time. Wendy knows that the residents' nutritional needs are key to promoting good health and well-being.
Eager to sit down and work diligently on menus for special events, Wendy plans every little detail just right and well in advance. A favorite meal that all of the residents and their families talk about is her incredible Turkey-N-Dressing. Residents will often say, "That's just how Mom used to make it!"

The cost of care and service varies for each individual resident based on the size and location of the apartment they choose, as well as the kind of care and services needed.
At Columbia Cottage in Florence, the cost of care starts at $2,576. This rate is paired with a customized personal care plan called CareSteps. After an assessment by our Cottage staff, your loved one will receive a care plan that is specific to his or her individual needs. This plan is revisited every three months or with any significant change, so if your loved one moves in and becomes more independent, his or her cost for care would decrease. If he or she has a decline, the cost of care would increase with the additional staff attention your loved one would require.
Prices effective January 1, 2017.
