With different sizes and styles of apartments, the Cottage is a unique assisted living community that offers the attention, care, and home-like environment your loved one deserves. Our private apartments come equipped with a private bathroom, emergency alert system, and spacious closet. Each apartment is also cable TV and telephone ready.

Cozy Community Areas

The Cottage designed its community around the premise of cozy common areas for friends to gather and a family-style dining room to enjoy during meal times. With a spacious living room, quiet library, sunny porch, and a warm Country Kitchen, our residents always have a place to read, meet with friends, and enjoy a cup of coffee.


Central to the Cottage's mission is CareSteps, the customized personal care program that provides just the right kind of help at the right time. Along with this individualized care program, Cottage services include:

  • 24-hour staff attention
  • Three home-style meals daily
  • Weekly thorough housekeeping and daily tidy up
  • Scheduled transportation
  • Planned off and on-site recreation
  • Weekly personal laundry

Meet The Staff
Selena Jackson

Selena Jackson

Managing Director

Selena Jackson, LPN, is the acting Managing Director of Columbia Cottage. Selena is from Russellville, Alabama and first joined the Cottages in Russellville as the Resident Services Director in 1998. Since that time she has been a member of the Cottage team in various positions, including Managing Director for Country Cottage - Russellville and Managing Director of Country Cottage – Decatur. In October 2005 Selena became a Regional Managing Director, a job which allowed her to help care for the residents in several Cottages. Selena has been a nurse for 18 years, and has enjoyed 17 years caring for the elderly.

Selena is married to Michael Jackson, who is the head Football Coach for Russellville High School. Selena is proud to have just sent her only son, Mason, to Cumberland College on a football scholarship.

“The reason I love caring for the elderly is because of my many wonderful grandparents who played such an important role in my life,” says Selena.

Regina Lawler

Regina Lawler

Resident Services Director

Regina Lawler, Resident Services Director, has worked at Country Cottage since the first day the doors opened. She began as a Homemaker before being quickly promoted to Coordinator and then to Resident Services Director. Regina feels she has found her “place in life” and says “I will be here long after I’m old enough to be one of the residents. I love my residents as if they were my own family.” Regina has her Assisted Living Administrator’s License and Assisted Living Federation Association’s National Lifetime Administrative Certificate.

Regina grew up in the Mount Hebron Community and attends North Russellville Baptist Church. She has been married to Perry Lawler for 32 years and has one son. In her spare time, she enjoys walking and cross-stitching.

Sandy Brackin

Sandy Brackin

VP of Operations

Sandy has been caring for seniors for over 20 years, and has worked for the Cottages for over a decade in various roles. She attended Auburn University and graduated from LPN school at Wallace Community College in Dothan and RN school at Northwest Shoals Community College in North Alabama. She is a licensed administrator for assisted living and specialty care assisted living.

“I believe in what the Cottage stands for and always have. I enjoy working with seniors but also like being able to teach and train others on how to care for them the right way.”

Sandy and her husband, Larry, have two grown children, Andrew and Anna, and two granddaughters, Marlie Anna and Hydie Kate.
