Haley Walker

Haley Walker

Resident Services Director

Haley discovered her calling to be a nurse through caring for her grandfather.  Since graduating from Wallace State’s nursing program, she has dedicated her career to caring for seniors.  Prior to the Cottage, she worked with seniors in various capacities including patient care assistant and activities coordinator.  “I love working at the Cottage because of the relationships I get to build with my residents.  It is rewarding to me knowing that I can make them feel as at home as possible.”

Outside of her role at the Cottage, Haley enjoys camping, hiking and watching movies. She attends Church 29:11 in Gardendale, Alabama.  “I will not change the world, Jesus will do that. But I can change the world for one person. So, I will keep loving, one person at a time.”

Leslie Carter

Leslie Carter

Senior Managing Director

Born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Leslie developed an affinity for spending time with seniors through her mother, who loved to include her children in volunteering at local nursing homes. Love took Leslie to southern Illinois where she spent fifteen years. She graduated with her Bachelors in Psychology and Counseling and became a licensed Assisted Living Administrator. Leslie managed three assisted living communities in Illinois.

She truly has found her passion and has devoted her energies to working in the senior housing industry. Family brought Leslie back to Alabama in November of 2011, and today Leslie says she loves Alabama and is happy to be home! Leslie looks forward to each day at the Cottages. “It doesn’t feel like work. I truly enjoy coming to the community every day and visiting with our residents. I learn so much from their stories and life experiences. It is an education that cannot be taught or learned in the classroom.”

Greg Dykes

Greg Dykes

Greg comes to the Cottages with over 12 years of experience caring for seniors in a variety of environments including rehabilitation, independent care, assisted living and more. Before joining the Cottage family, Greg has helped provide care to seniors in a variety of settings.

"I love the Cottages' commitment to caring for our Residents," says Greg. "Through 'The Cottage Way' we are truly able to help them remain independent and care for them in a tiny personalized way, and I think that is the key to making them feel at home and happy."

At home, Greg enjoys spending time with his wife, Laura, and his two children, Evan and Laura Beth. He loves to garden and spends much of his time outdoors growing lilies and roses. He also enjoys golfing with his son. He and his family attend Church of the Highlands on Grants Mill Road in Birmingham, AL.
