sarah_curatellaSarah Curatella, RN
Managing Director

Sarah Curatella comes to Country Cottages with 14 years nursing experience working in Geriatrics, Long Term Care, Assisted living, Palliative care and Home Health.  “It is very fulfilling to be able to give back to the people who brought us here.”

She attended North West Shoals Community College in Phil Campbell where she earned her Registered Nursing degree.  Sarah made her home in Florence for 20 years before moving to Hoover.

Sarah has two young sons that keep her busy.  In her spare time, she enjoys music, movies and attending the Theater.

“The elderly are more valuable than we think.  They deserve the love and respect that they gave us to be returned to them.  Working at the Cottage gives me the chance to be able to do this on a daily basis.”

Resident Services Director

June Rankin, LPN has been serving the elderly for almost 20 years.  Her love for the work she does has had her in many roles over time.  She has cared for Cottage Residents in Decatur and Florence, and now finds herself in Hoover as the new Resident Services Director.
Before joining the Country Cottage family, June worked as a nurse at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.  She first joined the Cottages in 2004 in Decatur, later moving to Florence in order to be closer to her children.  After a brief departure due to family concerns, she has now made her way back “home” to the Cottages.
Now that she’s returned to the Cottages, June says, “Country Cottages has become part of my family.  I love the Residents, and I’m glad to be back home again!”

Information Director

Information Director Susan Bremer brings her experience caring for her parents to the Cottage family.  She spent years caring for her parents, including her mother who suffered from dementia and was a Resident at Columbia Cottage.  With her background in caring, it is no wonder she feels right at home with Country and Columbia Cottages!  “I am at the Cottages because Columbia Cottage was my mom’s home for nearly two years.  I know first hand what great care, love and support was provided to her and the other Residents during her time at the Cottage.”

Susan grew up in Gadsden, but has lived in the Birmingham area since 1988.  She attended Gadsden State Junior College and the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  Susan earned her degree in Marketing with a minor in Management and is a licensed realtor in Alabama and Florida.  Now that she is with Country and Columbia Cottages, Susan hopes to “be an advocate and provide assistance to other families when they need to make the difficult decisions concerning their loved ones.”

Living at home with her husband of over 10 years, Susan enjoys taking walks on the beach.  She especially enjoys these walks with her husband Mark and their puppies during sunset.  She also loves to read, shop, travel and play Bunco!
