diane spivaDiane Spiva, RN, BSN, MSNA
Managing Director

Country Cottage warmly welcomes Diane Spiva, RN, BSN, MSNA, as Managing Director! Diane comes to the Cottage with over 20 years experience in nursing.  Most of her clinical work has been in acute care facilities spanning patients with a variety of ages and diagnoses.  Having worked in clinical patient care, academics and administration, Diane comes to us with expertise in many aspects of caring.

She received her LPN from Moore-Norman Vocational-Technical School in Norman, Oklahoma, her Registered Nursing degree from Newman University and her Master of Science in Nursing Anesthesia from Wichita State University.  She is currently licensed in Kansas and Alabama.  “Having been in nursing for over twenty years, I have experienced the joy of caring for others!”

Diane has 3 adult children who live in Texas and Kansas, and her parents are in the Portland, Oregon area.  She has hobbies for every season with summer being her favorite.  She loves beaches, swimming and boating.

“I love the concept of maximizing the abilities and choices of seniors in a friendly, down-home environment that offers a sense of community.  I have had a good day when I go home, realizing I make a difference in someone’s life!!”

diane spivaTara Biles, LPN
Resident Services Director

Country Cottage warmly welcomes Tara Biles, LPN, as Resident Services Director! Tara has devoted her life to caring for others, from infants to the elderly.  “My grandmother saw and felt my compassion for others and she encouraged me to become a nurse.”  She received her LPN from Calhoun Community College.  “I love helping others and feeling like I make a difference in their lives.”

Tara has 4 children.  In her spare time, she loves reading, writing, and spending time with her children.  “My children are my pride and joy.”  Every Sunday, she cooks dinner for her grandfather and spends the day with him.

“I love working at the Cottage.  I am devoted to giving the Residents the best care and I feel blessed to be a part of their lives.”

Michelle Anderson,
Information Director

Michelle Anderson understands the importance of family.  She has been married for almost ten years and shares two beautiful children with her husband, Tony.  Every fall they join the rest of Michelle’s family in watching Alabama Football games with their season tickets, a family tradition started by Michelle’s father before he passed away.  Her closeness with her own family carries over into her job at the Cottage.

“When families come in, they are at a crisis point.  While the situations can be tender, I believe that we can make a positive difference in people’s lives.  I consider it a privilege to server as the Information Director and truly help families navigate their way through the assisted living process and make the best possible choices for their loved ones.”

Michelle has worked in healthcare since 1989, paying special attention to seniors and their families.  She graduated from the University of North Alabama in Florence and worked for SouthernCare Hospice, Hearthstone Assisted Living and Huntsville Hospital before joining the Cottage family.

“I simply love people,” Michelle says. “I believe the Cottage staff feels the same way.  Every caregiver at the Cottage has a genuine love for the Residents, and it shows!  The first time I stepped in the Cottage I could feel the warmth of the care staff, and when I stepped into the country kitchen, I felt like I had walked right into my grandmother’s kitchen.  It smelled delicious!  I felt so at home.  We give our Residents a place to call home, and we give their families a peace of mind.  It means so much to me to work for a company that puts their philosophy into practice.”

When Michelle isn’t taking care of the Residents at Country Cottage, she enjoys spending time with her own family.  She loves reading, cooking and outdoor sports.  Michelle and her family are members of Willowbrook Baptist Church, and she is very involved in Women’s Ministry and teaches third grade Sunday School.
