Resident Spotlight – Mrs. Anne Boehme

“Always listen and stand by those you love – especially your children.”

Loving Mother, Avid Reader, Cancer Survivor

Mrs. Boehme moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1952 with her husband who was an engineer with NASA’s Space Program. She had a warm smile when she revealed that she met her husband on a blind date and that the two were married a mere five months later. “It was the best thing I ever did. I was married to the love of my life for 44 years,” says Mrs. Boehme.

Together they raised four beautiful children who have become architects, lawyers, and medical doctors. Having two young boys myself, I jokingly asked her what her secret was. Her simple answer warmed my heart and reminded me what life is all about.

“Love. Always let your children know that you love them.”

Mrs. Boehme has lived at Country Cottage Assisted Living in Huntsville, Alabama for two years. Before joining the Cottage family, she lived at our sister community The Commons, an active adult community in Huntsville, for two years.

“I am happy here. This is where I belong.”

Being independent is important to Mrs. Boehme. “I know if I need help someone is here to help me, but they let me be independent. I can be as active as I want to be here.” She enjoys afternoons walking through the courtyard, relaxing in her apartment with a good book, or chatting with Cottage friends. “Everyone is so nice here. We all know each other.”
