Florence: Thank you for celebrating with us!

Columbia Cottage in Florence recently marked its 20th year of serving seniors. To celebrate, The Cottage hosted a party for friends and family of The Cottage, as well as vendors and individuals who have helped us serve the community throughout the years.

Cliff White, President of Cottage Senior Living, spoke to a crowd of 150+ and shared the story about how the idea for the Cottage originated. During a family vacation to Opryland USA in Nashville, TN, Peg Thompson, Cottage co-founder, saw Southern Living’s Cumberland River Cottage Idea Home. White joked that once Thompson saw the Idea Home “that was the last we saw of Mom.”

Thompson spent the rest of the day walking through the home, taking pictures, and asking questions. Inspired by the warmth of the design, Thompson knew this is what seniors deserved –  to be able to live in a community that looked like the homes they lived their lives in.

Beautiful harp music by Annette Harman played in the background as attendees enjoyed delicious homemade food. A certificate was presented to Glenda Beavers, Managing Director of Columbia Cottage in Florence, and White from the city of Florence in recognition of the 20th anniversary. Plus giveaways every 20 minutes in celebration of 20 years graciously donated from Shannon Ross – Kindred Home Health, Melissa Terry – Kindred Hospice, Debbie Bradford – Good Samaritan Hospice, Matt McLain – Amedisys Home Health, Dana Scott – Alacare Home Health and Hospice, Ginger Thompson – Shoals Home Health, Billy Hammock- Creative Jewelers.

We are so thankful to everyone who came out to support us at the event and continues to support The Cottage’s mission: Independence, Dignity, and Choice. We look forward to the next 20 years!
